Traveling for work can sometimes throw you off your regular
routine. Your work hours might be chaotic, and your sleep schedule can get a
little off track. And if getting fit was one of your New Year’s resolutions,
you need creative ways to squeeze in some effective exercise even when you’re
on the road:
Make a Plan
Don’t wait to think about working out until you’re two days
into your trip. Make a fitness plan and prepare for it! Be sure to pack
appropriate shoes and clothing. You may also want to pack some gear that you
can easily work out with in your hotel room. For example, resistance bands and
jump ropes are compact and lightweight items that are easy to pack.
Walk Everywhere
Getting in some steps during your trip is easy! You can walk
around the airport terminals, to the office from your hotel, to restaurants,
and even to a nearby coffee shop or cafe. Use MapMyRun to
find paved paths near you’re your hotel. Set a walking goal and keep track of
your steps with a pedometer app. If you’re more of a runner, you can also use
an app to map out a run route in your hotel’s area. Just remember, safety
should always come first, so be aware of your walking routes and walk to your destination only if you feel safe
while doing so.
Work Out
in Your Room
Turn your
laptop into a personal trainer on the go. Your hotel room can provide enough
space to tackle some simple exercise moves, so turn on your laptop and get
ready to sweat! YouTube has an
endless library of exercise videos to try in your room, such as the Fitness Blender channel. You can also try a personal
trainer app, such as Nike Training Club.
Eat a
Healthy Breakfast
It’s tempting
to grab a high calorie donut (or two!) on the way to work, but that will just
leave you with a sugar spike and zero energy. Skipping breakfast is also a bad
idea. You need a healthy breakfast to fuel your day and ensure you have enough
energy to get in some exercise at the end of the day. Our Breakfast provides a
variety of hot breakfast options as well as everyday favorites like fruit,
oatmeal, and cereal.
Hit the
Hotel Gym
Keep up with
your workout routine while you are away from home by booking a hotel with an
in-house gym. Our fitness centers have a variety of strength and cardio
equipment that will be sure to get your heart pumping each day.
